Buyer context

When a purchase request includes either code, ask which entity or item it refers to. A project brand may coordinate enquiries while the contracted manufacturer is a different legal organisation. The commercial documents should make that relationship clear.

Putting it into the enquiry

Check codes against authoritative records and the relevant purchasing documents. Keep a record of the source checked and the date of review. Do not create placeholder numbers for a public website or quotation: realistic-looking placeholders can be mistaken for verified identifiers.

What to confirm

  • Legal entity behind the offer
  • Item reference versus organisation code
  • Authoritative record and review date

Does an NCAGE prove product quality approval?

It is an organisation identifier. Product conformity and quality evidence need to be assessed separately.
