Buyer context
Create a whole-system cost table. Include sample review, tooling where relevant, unit packaging, transport volume, spare components and return logistics if reuse is planned. Leave unknown costs visible rather than assigning optimistic estimates.
Putting it into the enquiry
Use pass/fail acceptance requirements before a weighted commercial score. A low price does not compensate for an unproven requirement that the customer treats as mandatory. Once technically acceptable options are established, compare documented costs and lead times.
What to confirm
- Common acceptance brief
- Complete delivered scope
- Lifecycle assumptions made explicit
Which material should I choose first?
Begin with the product and logistics requirements. Request material alternatives against that same brief, then compare the evidence and commercial offer.
